Here is an email that came into one of the groups we read. Posted here iun its entiry for you. Please contact the people involved!
This came across my email from a club I am associated with, and thought this might be something that homeschool Moms would want to do. I know we have all gone through tough times, and I know many military folks homeschool. But if you have extra coupons that would you be willing to put in an envelop, you could help military families who have gone through deployments and other trials these last 10 years. These are made available at the commissary (grocery store for civilians) and I think even the national guard families can shop there when they are activated.
Here is the note and instructions if you want to help:
Ladies,
I hope you will urge Daughters to send their manufacturer's coupons to the Fort Hood Commissary #1. I recently talked with the lady in
charge, Betty Carey, and she is still enthusiastic about receiving them! She says the women, the families of soldiers, take full
advantage of the coupons and are so very grateful to have them - to help lessen the burden of cost of food for their families.
After 9/11, I saw that there were ways to send coupons to bases overseas and thought, why not send them locally? Fort Hood being the
largest base and close to us, would be the perfect place to at least start finding places to support our troops (and women) at home. At
first there were two commissaries willing to accept the coupons, but one was not to continue accepting them. I'm glad we're helping our
men/women/children close at home. Some of them will go/have gone to places far away to help keep us free, so I'm glad to help the
ones left behind, waiting for their return.
As a reminder, the address to send manufacturer's coupons is:
