Well... age six seems to be the magic number.
SUBCHAPTER C. OPERATION OF SCHOOLS AND SCHOOL ATTENDANCE
Section 25.085. COMPULSORY SCHOOL ATTENDANCE. section c deals specifically with the compulsory age.
At aged 6 your child will need to be participating in a first grade curriculum level schooling.

Yes that's what we were told. Kindegerten/preschhool is not necessary.
